DATA-BACKED CARD REVIEW

HSBC Live+ Credit Card: the fit matters more than the headline.

HSBC Live+ is a category-led cashback card. Its value depends less on a generic online-spend label and more on whether your regular dining, food-delivery, grocery, shopping and utility spend can use the monthly accelerated-cashback cap.

BEST FOR

Regular spend in the issuer’s accelerated cashback categories.

It is more useful when your qualifying monthly spend can use the accelerated-cashback bucket without making the annual fee the main story.

Read the boundary, not only the benefit.

• You live outside eligible HSBC service cities. • Your spending doesn't cover the annual fee break-even point. • You don't spend heavily in dining or groceries.

DECISION CHECKS

Questions to answer before you apply.

Check that you live in an HSBC listed service city before treating the card as an available option.

Map your recurring spend against HSBC’s accelerated categories and monthly cashback limit instead of using total spend alone.

Compare the annual-fee waiver threshold with your realistic yearly eligible spend.

Read the live exclusions and the current product terms before application, especially for transactions that may not earn cashback.

REVIEW FAQS

Questions answered with the issuer source in view.

Which Live+ purchases receive the accelerated cashback rate?

HSBC states that Live+ offers 10% accelerated cashback, capped at ₹1,200 per month, on dining, food delivery, grocery, shopping and utility spending. Merchant categorisation and current issuer terms determine whether a transaction qualifies.

What happens after the accelerated cashback cap is reached?

HSBC describes 1.5% unlimited cashback on most other spend, subject to exclusions. Do not assume that a transaction earns this rate or that it is eligible simply because it is not in an accelerated category; check the current issuer terms first.

Does Live+ have an annual-fee waiver?

HSBC lists a ₹999 annual fee and says it is waived when annual spend exceeds ₹2,00,000. Compare that threshold with realistic eligible spend and read the current fee schedule before applying.

Can every UPI, fuel, rent or bill payment earn Live+ cashback?

Do not assume so. HSBC’s product examples show that reward treatment can differ by category, and the issuer’s exclusions and merchant categorisation control. Confirm the live product terms for the exact transaction before relying on a cashback expectation.
